This motel is comprised of individual non-connected units. These sleeping units were fashioned after the manner of the teepees of the Plains Indians. The architect was Frank Redford
Chester E. Lewis of Holbrook, Arizona constructed the motel and opened it for business on May 1950. The Lewis fmaily has owned and operated Wigwam Village #6 from its construction to the present day.
The Motel is a striking sample of Western Americana culture. It is the most prominent landmark in Holbrook and also one of the most noticeable in Northern Arizon along Old Route 66.
Wigwam VIllage #6 has been featured in numerous travel magazines, history books, calendars and newspapers worldwide. The Motel was the site for some scenes in the movie, "Dark Wind".
